I can’t speak for David, but both these responses read very negatively and dismissive to me.  Elliott, you were probably laughing at Alex’s missing the “two weeks” comment; whatever your intentions, it didn’t read that way for me hence my response.  It’s always hard to hear people’s intentions in forum posts.  Things seem to have turned out well, though; no harm, no foul. 

I think it’s very irellevant to know who laughed at whom.

You’re taking my quote out of context. I admit, when I first saw the thread I thought someone was just copying Coffee House, and as you would expect: pissed. Obviously, when I realised that David started sugar store around the same time as I started coffee house (2-3 weeks ago) couldn’t have copied it, I appended to my post.

Reminder to self: trying to explain yourself in forums never works.

Elliott asked where I was coming from; I took the relevant portions of posts that prompted my initial response to this thread to show him.  Just because I took them badly doesn’t mean they actually were negative, and given that the thread moved in a positive direction I don’t see any need to rehash this more.  I neither need nor expect explanations from either Elliott or yourself, Alex, for why you posted as you did, I don’t believe your intentions were bad, and I hope my responses to you in other threads have shown that my respect for you as developers hasn’t decreased.

As or my annoying need to explain myself when everyone else is ready to move on (incidentally hijacking a thread or two as a result), you can thank my background in social pyschology.  Darn need to talk through conflict is hard to overcome; doesn’t help that I’m verbose by nature and enjoy a good argument (which I don’t get much these days, working from home).  Hopefully folks will forgive me.
