My first ever original syntax theme (for any editor). All of the text is based on various alpha values of white so it can be used with any background/selection color.

Here it is in blue!

It was hard differentiating things, which isn’t exactly surprising. Any suggestions welcome. I’m not 100% happy with it yet but still happy enough not to switch back to anything else.

And, no monospace font for me… how bad is it? I switched away from fixed-width fonts several nights ago and I just haven’t found a reason to go back.

Yes, but… Comic Sans?  Really?

I recommend Consolas if you’ve got MS Office installed, or Inconsolata if you don’t.  Mono-spaced and really sharp.

That aside, the theme looks like it’s really coming together though.  Thanks for the contribution!

Not quite Comic Sans. This is something called Chalkboard. I had started with Verdana (Arial looks too squished in Espresso). After coding for too long I want to look at something a bit more fun. I’ll check out this font, but since I’ve switched I’m not sure I can stand going back to monospace except when character count limits are present in class assignments.

I used Incosolata for quite some time (it’s a very nice font), but the semi-curly straight quotes finally were driving me nuts.  I recently switched all my editors over to using DejaVu Sans Mono (introduced to it by Coda, actually; Panic Sans is just a repackaged and slightly less extensive version of DejaVu Sans Mono).  It’s a really nice monospace font.

In general I don’t really like monospace fonts, but for coding they’re a must for me.

One note on Panc Sans, it’s custom-hinted for OS X’s font rendering. That’s why it looks so sexy on-screen, and why I use it for most things.

Iconsolata is really a LOT better if you restrict your use of it to it’s intended use - printing code. Just TRY printing a page of Merb’s source - you’ll want to frame it.
